My Massage Therapy organization is collecting winter coats for the organization “Button Up CT”. 

If anyone has winter coats and/or vests that are still in good shape that you’d like to donate you could bring them to the patrol room and I will gladly take them by the 28th, thanks for any help you can give.

Justin Regan, fresh from this weekend’s Patroller School, reports the following:

This past weekend both Cally Knight and I attended a Patroller School event up at Windham Mountain.  For 2 days we worked with very knowledgeable TE and certified staff and learned a whole bunch of new things.

It was lots of fun and I highly recommend attending this event if you wish to improve on any of your patrolling skills.  During those 2 days, 3 events were running all at once: Patroller School, a TE Clinic, and intro to Certified. It was an open event to anyone who wanted to come and expand their knowledge in any event they wanted.

It also counted as 2 electives (Skiing enhancement and toboggan enhancement).  Last year Cally Knight had passed her senior EMM and her S&T but needed only one more elective to complete her senior status. 

This past weekend completes her requirements on becoming a senior.  Please join me in congratulating her on a job well done!

Cally joins both her Mom and Dad as Senior Alpine Patrollers.  Quite an accomplishment we should all be proud.

Recently, both Corey Clukey and Sarah Kennedy successfully completed the OEC portion of their candidate year!

As you would imagine, Thanksgiving is always an anxious time at the Turkey Turn.  The anticipation of the ski season as well as the concern about brother and sister turkeys ending up on dinner tables.

Fortunately, some were spared.  The Pardon is short film documenting their redemptive story.

Please remember to pay for and pick up your season passes from the business office by November 30th.  Per area management any passes picked up after December 1st will be subject to a $50 late charge.

On Saturday, Dec 3rd I will be hosting a meeting for anyone interested in joining the RESQ Squad for the 2011-2012 ski season.  It will be held at 4pm in the patrol room.  This meeting is for returning and new/interested members.

Qualifications are as follows:

1.  The child has a parent/relative on the MSSP and they are willing to be a sponsor (foster children, step children are of course welcome)
2. The child has a current ski pass
3. The child is old enough to get on a ski lift by themselves 

We have a new RESQ Squad program that I am very excited about and it will be covered at this meeting.  There will also be fun group activities and pizza.  Sponsors should attend the beginning talk about the RESQ Squad and can either stay to have fun with us or go run an errand or two.  Any patroller is always welcome at any RESQ Squad activity.

The past advisor (Jinny) gave the group a great beginning and we are now going to take it to the next level.  I hope that this program will be a fun, educational and bonding experience for each child and we can begin to mold our future Ski Patrollers!

We (myself and the many people who have given their time and energy to this new program) are very excited to get the ball rolling!  If you cannot make this initial meeting, please don’t worry.  Send me an email (by clicking here) and I will be sure to touch base with you and insure that your child is included in our program.
